Sorting out your day-to-day bank accounts in Australia

Chances are the first thing you'll need is an everyday bank account to help manage your money. Being able to manage your day-to-day banking such as accessing your cash at ATMs (cash machines) and keeping tabs on your cash through mobile banking will make your move to Australia much easier.

An everyday bank account, otherwise known as a checking account, is where you can deposit your salary, transfer funds, pay bills and make purchases using a Visa Debit card. Our Complete Freedom account is an everyday bank account that gives you easy access to your cash the way that suits you.

Why St.George?

Setting up a savings account

Sometimes you might want to put extra cash aside until you're ready to use it. With a savings account you can earn a competitive interest rate on your savings but still access them easily when you need to.

Credit cards

We've got a fantastic range of credit cards to suit all sorts of needs. This includes cards with no annual fee, cards with a low purchase rate and cards that let you earn reward points that can be used towards lifestyle benefits or air miles on a variety of airline programs. We’ve even got cards that offer complimentary overseas travel insurance.

Get retirement ready

If you're going to be working for an employer in Australia, you should also be paid superannuation. This is money put aside in a fund for your retirement, currently 9.5% on top of your salary.
